Windows 8 - Display back Google Calendar in W8 Calendar app

How to display again your Google Calendar in to your Windows 8 Calendar App?


NOTICE: This tutorial explain how to be able to display back your Google Calendar Events
                 (Read/only mode) in  your Windows 8 Calendar App
                  
                  !You are not going to be able to edit Google Events through Windows 8 Calendar App!

                  But consult your Google entries in W8 Calendar is nice to have


Since Microsoft has updated Windows 8 Mail/People/Calendar  App, your Google Calendar entries are not displayed anymore in W8 Calendar APP


















Here is how to fix it:



> Log into your Google account


















> open your Google Calendar





> Go to your Calendar Settings

























> Click Calendars



> Click on the Calendar you need



> On  Private Address section, Click on ICAL button










> The provided link should look like that:

    https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/xxxx%40gmail.com/private-xxxx/basic.ics



> Select your ICAL link and COPY it ....   That's all from your Google account side







 


> Now, browse outlook.com and  log  in to your Microsoft email account (Hotmail, Live or Outlook)
    and pick Calendar













> click on Subscribe











> Select  Subscribe to a public calendar






















> Choose Suscribe to a public calendar,
> In Calendar URL, PASTE your Google Calendar Private ICAL .ics link
> In Calendar Name, name it like you want
> Pick a color if you need to change the default one
> Pick a Charm if you feel like it
> Finally, click on Subscribe to calendar



Your Google Calendar is now imported and dispalyed in your MS email account
and displayed by the way in your Windows 8 Calendar App too!


You are done :-)

Windows 8 - Remove one of your PC from Windows Store Account

You want to delete a computer from your Windows Store account?  

This is How To:



> Click on your Store Application









> Windows + C to access Charms Bar 
> Click on Settings





> Click on Your Account





> Sign In (if it's not allready done)

> Enter your Windows Sotre Credentials if you weren't allready connected




> Now you are free manage your PCs and remove on of them



That's it, your are done :-)

windows 8 - How to enable "Application Folder"

This is an hidden feature;

but it may help if you want to have a fast access to one of your applications


> Create a new folder on your Desktop















> Rename it:   Applications.{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}





Once done it will look like this:














Open it and now you can even access Metro Applications !



You can pin it to start if you want



Or you can add it to your Favorites if you feel like it



That's all :-)


Windows 8 - Enable Run as Different User


This apply only to Windows 8 PRO et ENTERPRISE Edition Users

This can be enabled with Group Policy Editor

Windows + R ->  gpedit.msc
















Search for: User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar
and double click on Show "Run as different user" Command on Start


















and choose Enable and click OK











To force the policy to be applied,
Windows + R ->  gpupdate /force


You have it now enabled on Start Menu








That's it !

Windows 8 - How to Set or Change File Associations?



You may want open, let's say your .jpeg pictures with Windows Viever or Picasa by default ?


Then change your file Association.
To set File Associations in Windows 8:

 > Open Control Panel
 > Programs
 > Default Programs
 >  Click on Make your File Type always open in a specific program













Find and click on file extension your are interested in and click on Change program


















Select the application you want to use by default to open your .jpeg


























You're done !

Windows8 - Fix - Google Chrome is slow to open my homepage



When you launch your Google Chrome browser, it takes long until your Homepage is displayed?
(This only apply to users who surf with Google Chrome without using a proxy)


Apply this easy fix, it may will help you


Open Internet Explorer

 - Go to Internet Options -  Select Connections Tab - click on Lan Settings


- Uncheck Automatically detect settings - click OK





















- Close Internet Explorer

- Open Google Chrome

Nornally, it is not anymore trying to resolve proxy



And it opens faster; Done!

Windows 8 - Fix - Folders take a long time to open


1. Right click your folder
2. Choose Properties
3. Go to customize Tab
4. Select document from the drop down
5. if needed, check apply this template to all subfolder option.



Issue solved.

Windows 2012 - How disable IE enhanced Security Configuration



In Server Manager - Local Server - 
Properties Pane -  IE Enhanced Security Configuration - OFF




Then you can choose if you want disable it for Administrators or/and Users - OK



Et VoilĂ , it's done !
